Marcia is a certified Nia White Belt instructor, a Brain Gym instructor certified for movement and Educational Kinesiology, a long time yoga practitioner, and thrilled to be able to share Nia with everyone, beginning with the first principle...THE JOY OF MOVEMENT.  Move at YOUR level.  Nia is for everyone, at any ability or level of fitness and we have SO much fun!  Come and explore.

Marcia has been moving and dancing since she was very small, when dance classes helped to direct an abundance of energy.  Joy of movement and the experience of body awareness in many dance and expressive techniques have brought her a commitment to the importance of kinesthetic experience for her life.  

She performed with a professional modern dance company through high school and majored in modern dance performance in college, although she also pursued and completed her BFA in Ceramics.

When still beginning what have been many years of studio pottery, she also began to explore yoga and other outlets for health and vitality through movement and body work. She also discovered many social, couples and community dance networks: contradance, square dance, Vintage (historic) Ballroom (performing with the Commonwealth Vintage Dance troupe), Swing and international folk dance; and this brought her to New England in the 80's.  She, her husband (who she met dancing!) and her two children are contra/square dance (and Family Dance and Music Summer Camp) regulars.  She is also managing their homeschooling family, with creative and healthy lifestyle choices part of their every day journey together.

Six years ago she began to hear about Nia and was hooked with her first class.  THIS was what she was looking for...to dance and move and be healthy for the rest of her life.  Nia embraces many disciplines, including dance, yoga, t’ai chi, martial arts and more.
